Stop the HatePosted on October 24, 2010 by Lara in bullying
Just a quick post to plug an important event coming up here in Norman, OK. The Stop Hate in the Hallways Conference takes place on Friday, November 5 at the Moore-Norman Technology Center. The all-day event is a conference on bullying designed for educators, school administrators, and parents–but really, I’ve seen the scheduled “line up” and it’s perfect for anyone who lives or works with children or teens. I’m proud to be a part of this conference and feel honored to have been invited to participate.
While the conference is sponsored by the Cimarron Alliance, a local LGBT advocacy group, it is not devoted solely to issues faced by LGBT youths, although the recent suicide deaths of several gay teens across the country is certainly on our minds as we prepare for the conference. Bullying affects thousands of children and teens, gay and straight, rich and poor, and of every racial or ethnic group. This conference is about putting a stop to the hate.
Space is limited. It’s not expensive to attend. You can register here.
